You’ve only gotten where you are because of the hands you’ve held. But no one community may be able to carry the upwardly mobile among you all the way to your goal.”
2. https://audreydriscoll.com/2019/04/28/retread-3-only-now/ “In the fourth of H.P. Lovecraft’s stories serialized under the title “Herbert West, Reanimator,” West tells the narrator that a traveler collapsed and died while asking for directions at his door — presenting him with an opportunity for a really fresh specimen for one of his reanimation experiments. When the fellow comes back to life, he reveals to the narrator that West murdered him. But before that, the first words he utters as life returns to him are “Only now.” Unfortunately, with the return of full consciousness, the subject remembers his murder and never completes that intriguing sentence. Only now… what? Since H.P.L. was an atheist, it was probably not a secret of the afterlife. But “only” is an interesting word.”
3. http://booksbywomen.org/how-to-stop-holding-yourself-back-as-a-writer/ “To succeed as an author, it’s important to know, understand, and own your unique writing and creative strengths. When you do that, you can build on those strengths and have a better chance of reaching your goals.
It’s not always easy, though, to acknowledge that hey, you’re pretty good at some things! If you struggle with that, you could be holding yourself back. Here’s why, and what you can do to remove those mental barriers and break through to greater achievement.”
5. https://kimwrtr.wordpress.com/2019/04/30/are-likable-characters-important-in-womens-fiction/ “When the moderator of a recent women’s fiction panel asked me if I expected to be friends with the protagonists in the women’s fiction I read, I had the oddest reaction: my mind went blank. Madly scanning my mental spreadsheet of great fiction in an effort to be truthful, in front of an auditorium full of avid readers I would have been happy to impress, I could suddenly recall no protagonist in any book I’d ever read. Could I think of characters who were compelling, closed off, quirky, troubled, clever? Sure. But I had never thought to sort any of them into the column titled “friends.”

Water trickled and dripped… echoing…
Raven’s claws scratched and scuttled,
drowning the echoes;
he paused and tilted his head:
his moon-eyes flashed.”

Let’s talk about the moldy old stories you have tucked away.
What do you do with the draft that refuses to settle into a niche? Resurrect it in a new form, or toss it onto the pyre of works that won’t ever see the light of day? Case in point: I’ve been nurturing a manuscript for over twenty years that has been through metamorphosis upon metamorphosis.”

2. http://ryanlanz.com/2019/04/27/announcing-my-premade-book-cover-service/ “I’m letting everyone know that I’ve launched a premade book cover service. I’ve been writing more short stories lately, mostly under a pen name, and I’ve found it hard to find a book cover that isn’t impossible for a $0.35-$0.81 per sale royalty (depending on the marketplace/website) to pay off. I found a lot of premade covers in the range of quality I was looking for in the $70-$150 USD range, which is tough for short story sales, in my opinion. Novels are a bit of a different story, as they can pay off higher ranges much more easily, but still, it’s always nice to find a bargain.”

Descended from a
long line of soldiers, Ian is conscripted into the Rellan army
and made to fight in their longstanding conflict against the ruthless
Langorian invaders. The downfall of Rella imminent, Ian goes against
orders and turns to the Crown of Stones, an ancient Shinree relic of
untold power. Ignorant of its true purpose, Ian uses the crown to end
the war, and pays a terrible price.”
