The Writer’s Wheel: End of the Year Tips 12/8/19

First off, Relax!

Don’t let the holidays or visitors stress you out. Take a walk. Take a breath. Let those shoulders sink. Go to your happy place. Visit with a dear friend. Anything to keep the peace. Avoid stressors such as getting involved in arguments with others. Let it go. It’s not worth it to ruin your Christmas for melodrama.

Shorten Your Menu.

It’s not about the food this holiday. That was last. Of course, you want to still have somewhat a meal but trim it down to a more manageable size than Thanksgiving. Christmas is about gathering together, enjoying the season, and remembering WHY we celebrate. Let the baby in the manager remind us that it’s him we should behave like not materialistic persons.

Take a Sleigh Ride.

This would be a magical time to get away, take a breather. That old song has some charm to it. Dashing through the snow—

Let it fill your heart and soul and let those hugs you receive remind you of the fellowship among men.

Write a Poem or Two.

Don’t stress about not being able to write much. Writing a poem or two will help keep that Muse active and reduce the time that you spend working. Of course, if you have deadlines: recruit your family to bring you eggnog or coffee, your choice. Remember to get up and stretch every now and then. It will help relieve some of those butterflies and keep you going. Again, have the family order in to avoid meal stressing.

Enjoy, enjoy!

Take a look around. Treasure these moments. You won’t get them back. Remember those gone, those still here. Pinch those baby’s cheeks. They don’t know how lucky they have it. Family can be a blessing or a curse. It’s your choice on which to make them. I hope you can dig down deep and find the love you had for your siblings or in-laws from when you first met. Don’t let the bitterness of things that have happened, destroy the holidays. Keep that chin up. Breathe. It’ll be fine! Have a great week, take care, and God bless!
