The Writer’s Wheel 9/22/19: Butter and Fries
Loleta Abi
No, this isn’t an advertisement for butter and fries, lol. Actually, I’ve been working on another website that I’m putting together. It will deal with recipes, dollar hacks, makeup, pets, etc. It won’t be up for another couple of weeks but I’m hoping to hit the Fall season with homecoming stuff and Halloween recipes. It will be a monetized site in the hopes it can bring in some money for extra income for edits, home life, etc.
I’m going to be working with my daughter and son on it. She has Celiac disease and can’t tolerate wheat. As such, we prepare recipes with and without gluten (something in wheat). My son, on the other hand, has problems with lactose. We’ve recently discovered Kefir which helps him to tolerate lactose better. Before, he had a horrible time with stomach pain and worse. We do use some lactose-free products if available as well such as Lactose-free Whole Milk.
We have brought recipes of our own as well as having-adapted recipes of others such as Pillsbury, Country Living, and Martha Stewart. We are excited to bring our twists to things. Yes, just as with writing, you can put some twists in there. Some tomatoes there, some potatoes here, and some celery in-between. Of course, that’s not all. I tend to eye the ingredients as my mother did while cooking while my daughter measures hers out. So, two different approaches with the same aim. My son will be taste-tester for most recipes and give a thumbs-up or down in his 0pinion.
As soon as the site’s up and running, I’ll link it here if you’re interested. Have a great week, take care, and God bless!
