The Writer’s Wheel…8/6/19: Goal Setting
Loleta Abi
Do you set goals for the day? Week? Month? I used to. Now, I work from a small memo paper where I list what I plan for each day. I rotate the days and take the weekends of any writing except for blog posts. For instance, M, W, & F I start with searching for recipes for my website to come along with meals, then I open a character builder on OneStopforWriters.com and work on my 3rd project for ½ an hour. Finished, I work on short story #1, followed by short story #2 or #3 if there is one at the moment, then write a poem. Afterward, I turn to researching agents on tweetdeck. I leave to do my errands. Return and work on edits for book #11 then edits for book #2. I take some time for reading. Then, I come back to the computer for working on blog links.
On T & T, I start with recipes again, followed by the character builder. Then, I work on a guest blog. Afterward, it’s on to agents. More errands. Return and edits on book #1 and #2. Reading. Blog links. On Thurs. evening, I schedule blog links for Fri. & Sat.
S & S, I copy recipes into my doc. I’m saving for that purpose, read craft books, read, listen to podcasts, and write my blog pots for Mon. & Tues. I take a couple days off blog links and working on main projects. This refuels me for Mon.
I’m planning to do this with household chores and the outside ones as well. Fitting them into things better.
How do you set your goals up? Does it help? Have a great week, take care, and God bless!
