The Writer’s Wheel 7/30/19: Where do You Go for Research?
Loleta Abi
- The Internet.
Most folks stop here. But there are a world of resources out there. Although this can kick it off to a good start and give you a feel of what you’re looking for. Always get three good resources for each piece of info that you lift.
- The library.
This is where you get your textbooks as well as perhaps fictional background on a subject. Autobiographies, maps, etc. A wealth of information is stored in the library. Why not take advantage of your local branch? I’ve been a big fan of libraries since I was old enough to have my own card.
- Interview sources.
These, for me are harder to come by. Though I do have relative in secret branches of the gov’t., it doesn’t apply to my stories in the categories I write in. At least, not yet. I’ve heard you can ask online for those in that field to answer. Or even call an expert and explain what you need. I’m a little hesitant to do that but it may be something I’ll have to do in the future.
Are there any other places/people you can think of? Have a great week, take care, and God bless!
